Christmas Day Sixty Seven

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want to live my life with the leadership of the Lord, speaking wholesome words which encourage, motivate, and draw others to the Lord Jesus; to speak the word of God in the power, and wisdom of God.

“When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.” Colossians 3:4 (KJV)

Christmas Day Sixty Eight

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want, wanted, and have received some encouragement, hope, and strength from the LORD, and pray you will receive it as well from the following words…

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.” Psalm 91:1-8 (KJV)

Christmas Day Seventy and One

What do I want for Christmas today?

To be the man of prayer that I ought to be; praying in the will of God, for His glory, power and praise; to pray continually, earnestly, diligently that His purposes may be accomplished in my life and the lives of others.

“Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.” Colossians 4:2-4 (NKJV)

Christmas Day Seventy and Four

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want you and the world to know that without Christ Jesus, the Son of God, God the Son; was all things made, and that by Him all things are held together; that this One who holds all things together will also keep you and hold your life together when you call on His name.

“…Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him…” Colossians 1:15-16 (KJV)

Christmas Day Seventy and Five

What do I want for Christmas today?

To be faithful, passionate, and compassionate to tell others of what Jesus Christ has done for me, what He has done for you, and what He has done for the whole world.

“Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, ‘Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.’ And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.” Mark 5:19-20 (KJV)

Christmas Day Seventy and Six

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want civility; of all the people on earth who should be civil, and respectful of one another it ought to be Christians.  Sure we have our disagreements.  Sure we have different color of skin.  So what.  Name calling, anger, and bitterness toward any other is not Christlike [Christian].

For Christmas today I want civility, and it must begin with me.

I am not speaking against calling sin what it is; but I am speaking of treating all people with respect.  We are all created in God’s likeness.  Let us remember that before we speak.

Christmas Day Seventy and Seven

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want you to know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, that He is the Son of God, God the Son, and the coming King who will put an end to all sin and evil in the world; and for you to believe Him, and trust Him with everything He says.

“Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of Power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:64 (KJV)

Christmas Day Seventy and Eight

Blessed Lord’s Day.

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want my heart, soul, mind and body to be prepared to enter the presence of God with the Church in  worshiping our Lord God, and Savior Jesus Christ; and I want the Church to have their like being joining with me in worshiping Him.

He is coming again.  Are you prepared to meet God?

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24:37-39 (KJV)

Christmas Day Seventy and Nine

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want to get to know my Lord and Savior closer than I do; and I want to be able to really encourage all who know Him to be people of His Word that we may all know Him closer; to know Him not just know about Him, and we can do that through the reading, study, and application of His Word in our hearts and lives.

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see Me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord.” Matthew 23:37-39 (KJV)

Christmas Day 80

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want to be angry at what makes God angry, and to direct that anger to fulfilling the will and glory of God in my life; to not let the anger fester and become hatred, sin and evil.

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, It is written, ‘My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.'” Matthew 21:12-13 (KJV)

Christmas Day Eighty and Two

What do I want for Christmas today?

No matter what experience I may have today; no matter how exciting, terrible, or painful it may be; I want my greatest experience be that of experiencing Jesus in closer walk with Him.

And Jesus came and touched them, and said, ‘Arise, and be not afraid.’ And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.” Matthew 17:7-8 (KJV)

Christmas Day Eighty and Three

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want to guard my  heart, so that only words of life, and not death, proceed from my mouth.

“Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”Matthew 15:17-20

Christmas Day Eighty and Four

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want my faith to grow in Christ Jesus, and to bring forth fruit for His honor and glory, to always keep my eyes on Him and not on the perilous waves of life’s sea around me.

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.” Matthew 14:31-32 (NKJV)

Christmas Day 90

Ninety days until December 25 – Christmas Day.  You probably do not want to be reminded of that.  Just did.

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want to tell someone today “Merry Christmas” to see the expression on their face, and maybe start a conversation about the real meaning of Christmas; and I want you to join me in doing that.

Tell someone “Merry Christmas”, then maybe you and I can tell them the real meaning of Christmas; that it is about the birth of our Savior; even today.

Christmas Day Ninety and Three

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want everything I say and do today to be for the honor and glory and praise of God my Savior Jesus Christ; and for others to come to Him.

“Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” Zechariah 8:23 (NKJV)

Christmas Day Ninety and Five

What do I want for Christmas today?

To be a friend to the friendless; hope to the hopeless; help to the helpless; an encourager to any without courage; to be faithful, worshipful, and dependent on my Creator and Him alone.

See Colossians 1:16-17

How This Conservative Evangelical Died…

Here is some food for thought.

This is the first of two posts that I have to preemptively tell you that my heart in this is motivated only in love and service to helping Christians (including me) more closely align in following the way of Jesus. I simply ask that if you are a Christian and one who struggles with anger when a person challenges your faith perspective, then maybe park this post until you can read it in a non-defensive, non-oppositional, and peaceful posture. These words are meant to begin a civil conversation and dialogue and then to guide us into deeper reflection and dependence on the Spirit of God in our lives.

Too many times, Christians read what I write (with the most recent example being about Christians and politics) and quickly retort, “Well, I disagree with your position,” or, “Well, that is just your opinion.” Others immediately dismiss what I have written and…

Christmas Day 100

With this countdown thing it may have drawn it out longer.  I can hardly believe that we are only one hundred days from December 25, 2016.  I pray and want all to be blessed today, and everyday.

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want you to read the first paragraph above.

Christmas Day One Hundred Six

What do I want for Christmas today?

It is the Lord’s Day once again, so I want to go to worship our God and Savior Jesus Christ with brothers and sisters in Christ, and glorify His name together, then go into the community, and the world, equipped, and ready to live in a way that shows Him to the world; and do that seven days a week.

Christmas Day One Hundred Seven

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want to be a good and godly steward of all that God has blessed me with; including my fellowship with God, my wife, home, family, friends, and caring for finances, house and land; and in that order of importance.

Christmas Day One Hundred Ten and One

What do I want for Christmas today?

I want the children returning to school today following Labor Day weekend to arrive at their Schools safely; I want those who are driving their automobiles to work, home from work to be alert and aware of School Buses with the stop arm’s out, the overhead flashing red lights mean “STOP” there are children exiting buses; I do not want to see another child hit by an un-attentive, distracted motorist;  pay attention or you could kill, maim or injure a child.
