The Lessons In Life

There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:  The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.

Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

Proverbs 30:18-20

When Fathers Rejoice

He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.   A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.

In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

Proverbs 29:1-7

When The Poor Are Better Off Than The Evil Rich

Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

Proverbs 28:5-6

Counsel For Friendship

Open rebuke is better than secret love.  Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man’s friend by hearty counsel.   Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

Proverbs 27:5-10

There the Fire Goes Out

He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,  So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

Proverbs 26:17-21

A Liar, Confidence, The Heavy Hearted, And The Enemy

A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.

If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:  For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

Proverbs 25:18-22

Correcting Children To Be Wise

Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.  Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.  Yea, my reins shall rejoice, when thy lips speak right things.

Proverbs 23:13-16

The Poor, Making Friends, and Debts

Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:   For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:   Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.  If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?

Proverbs 22:22-27

HE WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR LET HIM HEAR

A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.

It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

 Proverbs 21:14-20

Those Who Are Not Blessed

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Proverbs 20:19-21

Better The Poor That Walks In His Integrity…

Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.  Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.  The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Proverbs 19:1-3

Seeking One’s Self?

A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Proverbs 18:2

In discovering one’s self one will come up empty.  It is far better to…

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.   In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.   It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Proverbs 3:5-8

It is a wise thing to “TRUST  in the LORD fully”.  The only way  is through  the death, burial and resurrection of God’s only begotten Son who is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.  He says to all who will hear,  “Come to Me, and I will give you rest..”

Righteous Kings

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.  Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right, The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.  In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

Proverbs 16:12-15

THE LIPS OF THE WISE AND THE HEART OF THE FOOLISH

The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.  The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.  The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but He loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

Proverbs 15:7-9

The Fruit of the Righteous and of the Wicked

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.  The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.  The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

Proverbs 12:11-13

Wisdom’s Invitation

Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.  She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,  “Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither:” as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,  “Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.  Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding….”

Proverbs 9:1-6

Blessed By Wisdom

When He gave to the sea His decree, that the waters should not pass His commandment: when He appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by Him, as one brought up with Him: and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him;  Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.  Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.  Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.  Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.  But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Proverbs 8:29-36

The Calamity of The Wicked

A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.  He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;  Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.  Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

Proverbs 6:12-15

Pondering the Paths of Life; Good or Evil

For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:  But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.  Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.  Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.  Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.  Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:  Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:  Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;  And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,  And say, “How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;  And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!  I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

Proverbs 5:3-14

Let Israel Hope In The LORD

LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.  Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever.

Psalm 131:1-3

The LORD Is Round About His People

They that trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.   As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about His people from henceforth even for ever.   For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.  Do good, O LORD, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

Psalm 125:1-5

LOVING KINDNESS AND FAITHFULNESS

He shall cry unto Me, “Thou art my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. Also I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.  My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and My covenant shall stand fast with him. His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.  If his children forsake My law, and walk not in My judgments; if they break My statutes, and keep not My commandments;  Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.  Nevertheless My lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer My faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips. Once have I sworn by My holiness that I will not lie unto David.  His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me.  It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven.” Selah.

Psalm 89:26-37

Parables and Dark Sayings

Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.  I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.  We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done.

Psalm 78:1-4
