A Man Born Blind; Now Seeing

Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, “Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.”  He answered and said, “Whether He be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.”  Then said they to Him again, “What did He to thee? How opened He thine eyes?”  He answered them, “I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? Will ye also be His disciples?”  Then they reviled Him, and said, “Thou art His disciple; but we are Moses’ disciples.  We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence He is.”  The man answered and said unto them, “Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence He is, and yet He hath opened mine eyes. Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth His will, him He heareth.  Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.  If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.”  They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
John 9:24-34

Be sure to read this whole story of the blind man.  He was born blind, then as a  grown man is healed by the creator of eyes.  Healed by Him who is the Christ.

This man who was born blind sees much better than those who thought they knew the truth of the identity of Jesus.  There was no record of any one born blind who had been made to see.

When we come into this world as a baby we are born spiritually dead, and blind to the things of God.  That is until God in His grace gives us sight and light that we might see the truth of who Jesus is.  Read Ephesians 2:1-10.

I once was blind, but now I see.  I was lost, and now I am found.  How about you?

“Lord, I Believe”

Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him, He said unto him,
“Dost thou believe on the Son of God?”
He answered and said, “Who is He, Lord, that I might believe on Him?”  And Jesus said unto him,
“Thou hast both seen Him, and it is He that talketh with thee.”
And he said, “Lord, I believe.” And he worshipped Him.           John 9:35-38

The man behind the story was born blind. No one had ever heard or known of anyone having their sight given to them who had been born blind. Yet Jesus applied clay to the man’s eyes, then told him to go and wash in the pool of Siloam. He did, and then the Jews cast him out of the temple; meaning that he could no longer worship there.

Jesus found him later, having heard he had been “cast out”, and ask him if he believed in the Son of God. Jesus reveals Himself to the man, and the man believes Him, then worships Him.

My eyes have been opened to the seeing of the Lord Jesus. As I grow older I realize more and more who Jesus is. The closer I get to Him the more I realize I need Him, and that am a sinner saved solely by His grace. There is nothing in me worthy of His presence or of heaven, but the new birth of the spirit in me, and the presence of the Holy Spirit of God who confirms my salvation.

He died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and He rose again. Have your eyes been opened to who He is?  Is He calling You. Believe Him today.

Words of Jesus; Son of God, God the Son – 092520

“And as Jesus passed by, He saw a man which was blind from birth. And His disciples asked Him, saying, ‘Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?’  Jesus answered,
‘Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.’
When He had thus spoken, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, and said unto him,
‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam,’
(which is by interpretation, ‘Sent.’) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.”  John 9:1-7  (KJB)

Division

“Therefore said some of the Pharisees, ‘This Man is not of God, because He keepeth not the sabbath day.’ Others said, ‘How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles?’ And there was a division among them.”  John 9:16  (KJB)

This division started over Jesus giving sight to a blind man on the sabbath day.  Once again the Pharisees accuse Jesus of breaking the sabbath law.  Jesus has addressed this foolish accusation several times before, but these accusers refuse to listen.

When we do not hear what our Lord says, and choose to believe wrongly there will continue to be division and discord.  This is so in groups, churches, and the individual’s own personal life.

The answer to that?  Hear what Jesus says, believe Him and do it.
