Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
Proverbs 28:5-6
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
Proverbs 28:5-6
A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Proverbs 21:14-20
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
Proverbs 18:2
In discovering one’s self one will come up empty. It is far better to…
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Proverbs 3:5-8
It is a wise thing to “TRUST in the LORD fully”. The only way is through the death, burial and resurrection of God’s only begotten Son who is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. He says to all who will hear, “Come to Me, and I will give you rest..”
Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table. She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city, “Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither:” as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, “Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding….”
Proverbs 9:1-6
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
Proverbs 2:6-7
LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, Thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit, or whither shall I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me…….
Psalm 139:1-10
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
Proverbs 18:1-2
My son, attend unto my wisdom,
and bow thine ear to my understanding:
that thou mayest regard discretion,
and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
Proverbs 5:1-2
He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
Proverbs 17:27-28
It is a wise individual who knows what to say, when to say it, and to whom it is said. The individual who is wise also knows how long to speak.
Even those who are foolish, ignorant willingly ignorant of God, when he remains silent is counted wise. Anyone who knows when to speak and when to be silent is a man of understanding.
As a Christian we ought always tell others of God’s gift to mankind; that is His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for out sins, was buried, and rose from the dead. To call on Him in the time He calls you is the wisest choice you will ever make.
The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
Proverbs 15:31-33
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.Proverbs 9:7-10
It takes godly wisdom to discern if we should reprove someone, or give them instruction. If we rebuke a scorner (Mocker) we may find ourselves in a jam.
If a wise man is rebuked he will love the one giving it. If we give instruction to a wise man, they increase in learning.
So if we possess godly wisdom we will love those who rightly rebuke us. If we are just and wise we will listen to instruction and learn.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus. He died for our sins, was buried and He rose again.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
Say unto wisdom, “Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:” That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.
For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding…
Proverbs 7:1-7
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.Proverbs 8:13, 35-36
Proverbs eight and nine personifies wisdom, and she is speaking of the need, for we descendants of Adam, to possess her. She is mentioned in chapter one verses 20 through 33; and she says quite a bit there for us to hear.
Wisdom is a gift from God, that comes with knowledge, and understanding. In chapter six we are given seven things which God hates. I do not believe this is an exhausted list, but that each of these evil things include all the evil that we do; and God hates it.
As you can see in verse 13 of chapter 8 above, “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil.” Wisdom is telling us that we are to hate everything that the LORD hates.
God hates sin and evil so much that he sees us in the bondage of wickedness of evil, and knows we cannot defeat it on our own. So seeing us in the condemnation of sin, evil, wickedness, sent His holy, ownly begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die in our place to purchase our salvation.
Jesus died on that old wooden cross as the propitiation for our sins, by becoming sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. When we turn away from sin to Christ Jesus that is repentance and faith, then we are no longer in condemnation. We are freed from the bondage of sin and evil.
The wisest thing we can do is to find life through Him. The greatest evil you can do is to reject wisdom and turn down God’s greatest gift. That is the mind of a fool.
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of His saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
Proverbs 2:1-9
But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
The depth saith, “It is not in me:” and the sea saith, “It is not with me.” It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
vv. 12-15
Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
v. 20
And unto man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.Job 28:12-15, 20, 28
Wisdom is a forgotten Item in the world, and world’s cultures; but is very much needed from the individual, tp the family, to the Church, to the state, to the nation, and to the world. Leaders need wisdom.
What is wisdom? Where does wisdom come from? How does one get wisdom?
Wisdom cannot be bought or sold. There is not enough gold, silver, or money in the world to buy it. It is a gift from God who is All Wise.
The words of the Proverbs, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” Proverbs 9:10, and Psalm 111:10 also. So it begins with a heart for knowing God, having great reverence for Him, His word, and knowledge of Him. It is the ability to make good decisions with what knowledge you have.
The is a wisdom that comes from God; and there is wisdom that comes from the world (James 3:13-18). We are also told by the word of God, “that if any lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it shall be given him ” (James 1:5). That answers the question of “Where does wisdom [godly wisdom] come from?” God gives wisdom (Proverbs 2:6).
The wisdom God gives also gives understanding, and leads us to hating what is evil. Evil is anything that is against the will, the way, and the word of God.
Every child of God needs wisdom to follow through with what knowledge they have of God, His word, and His Son Jesus Christ. Wisdom will be in the one who decides to hear the word of God and do it.
So, what is wisdom? It is a gift from God for those who ask Him, for the purpose of living for God, and living a godly life, making right and good decisions.
Where does wisdom come from? Godly wisdom; which is what we are looking at: comes from the LORD, and is much needed in the world and leadership in the world.
How does one get wisdom? It begins by trusting in the LORD for your salvation, your deliverance from sin and death through the cross of Jesus Christ and that will be the beginning of wisdom in you. Will you come to Him today. You may not have another day to live. Just ask God to give you a new heart for Him.
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.
Proverbs 3:13-18
For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not His saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
Psalm 37:28-31
WORDS FROM WISDOM: “Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.”
Proverbs 8:6-9
LORD, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in Thy holy hill?
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart, backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not, putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
Psalm 15:1-5
The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath He established the heavens. By His knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
Proverbs 3:19-20
And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father. And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, “Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.” And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, “Thy father did command before he died, saying, ‘So shall ye say unto Joseph, ‘Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father.'” And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, “Behold, we be thy servants.” And Joseph said unto them, “Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones.” And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Proverbs 17:27-28
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart. And the LORD said,
“I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth Me that I have made them.”
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
Genesis 6:5-8
O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands; if I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.
Psalm 7:3-5
For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:6
Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: from which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
1 Timothy 1:5-7
Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, that thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed. Luke 1:1-4
Arise, O God, plead Thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth Thee daily.
Forget not the voice of Thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against Thee increaseth continually. Psalm 74:22-23
The only way to know for certain of God, the power of His word, and the truth of who Jesus is is to read the Scriptures, hear the Scriptures, and believe the Scriptures as the Spirit of God opens your eyes and your heart to who He is.
Jesus Christ died for your sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and He was raised again and came out of that stone cold grave alive; and He forever lives, and reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords. Call on His name today and be delivered from the darkness, and evil of your sin.
“Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them,
‘Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.’ ” Luke 24:45-49
“And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And He saith unto them,
‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’
And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him.” Matthew 4:18-20
“For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of His saints.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.” Proverbs 2:6-9
“Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.” Proverbs 14:33
“When they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, saying, ‘Lord, wilt Thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And He said unto them,
‘It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.’ ” Acts 1:6-8
Ask for the Lord’s wisdom and understanding that we who are redeemed might be faithful to Him and His will, His way, and His word.
Let us also pray for the zeal and diligence in telling others of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross for our sins, His burial – taking our sins away, and His resurrection through which we are justified by God forever.
Let us also keep in mind and heart that He will come again for those who “Love His appearing”.
