Christmas Day Eighty and Six

What do I want for Christmas today?

My wife and I have guests in our home today.  Our oldest grandson Jonathan, and his sister Caitlyn, and some of their friends came down to our house last night to spend the night celebrating their Birthdays which was a few days ago.  They had a party in Springfield last night, then came here to camp out in our backyard. Their mother [Charity]; our daughter; also brought a friend with her to help get all the girls here.

So what do I want for Christmas today?  I want Jonathan to keep growing in the Lord Jesus Christ, to meet a godly Christian girl – which I think he already has – and grows deeper in love with Jesus through the Word, and deeper in love with the one who will be his wife; to love God with all his heart, soul, mind and strength; and to love his neighbor as himself.

For Caitlyn; that she too continue to grow in her love for Jesus, and His word; to one day find the godly Christian young man of her dreams, grow more in love with Jesus, and her husband to be; and to love God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love her neighbor as herself…

…And for those who are here with them as well.

Christmas Day Two Hundred Twenty and Nine #2

What do I want for Christmas?

I want to learn to count properly; because I just noticed that on Sunday May 08, 2016 I numbered that day as “Two Hundred Thirty and One” and it should have been “Two Hundred Thirty and Two”.

I am counting backwards from the day following Christmas Day of 2015.  I thought I was doing better than that.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16 (KJV)

If this messed up anyone’s day please forgive me.  I am smiling as I write.

I could go back and correct each error, but I will let it remain with this notice in place.

An Enlarged Aorta

You may wonder what a title like that is about, and I will tell you in a moment.  It is great to hear of someone who has a “Big heart”, and by that is usually meant that they are generous, caring, never seeking for themselves.  That can be said of many people.  The last thing, though, than any of us want to hear is that a loved one has a sickness, disease which is or could be fatal.

My wife [Madge] has just been diagnosed to have an anuerism (not sure of the spelling there) of the aorta.  From all that I understand about it it is quite serious.  I know that it is to us at this point.

To the readers of Fire and Hammer I wanted to ask those of you who are followers of Jesus Christ to pray for her healing.  I am however, praying for His glorious will, whatever that may be.

My wife and I have been married for 34 and one half years, and I have grown in love with her more through each year of our lives.  It can be frightening to feel that the life of one you love is hanging by a thread.  There is peace in knowing that our lives are in God’s Almighty, life giving hands, and that no one of us knows the day or timing of our death.  Life and death are in His hands.  I am thankful for the days my wife and I have together, and am looking forward to many more.

Please pray for us.  Thank you for doing so.

May God bless you all.

Getting Behind

It seems that I am getting behind in my studies of Genesis, and Matthew.  Those posts on the begining book of the Bible and the beginning book of the New Testament will continue, but for the time being I need to do some catch up work.  It is sometimes amazing how things have a way of catching up to you.

We have a weekend ahead of us.  I pray that it will be a good and godly one for all.

I want all of the people who come and read the articles posted here to know that I appreciate all of you.  Thank you for your kind words, and thoughts in commenting.  You have noticed that I changed the template AGAIN.  Of all the ones I have tried I believe I like this one the best, so my plans are for  leaving it here.

Always remember that God is on His throne, and prayer changes things, and people.

God bless you all.

Time to Share

I don’t know if any one will really be interested in this or not, but I have decided to spend a little time just sharing some things about what happens in my life.  This may become a weekly feature, and it may be a weakly feature too.

Some of you may have noticed that I maintain several blogs, and I have had some wonder how I do it.  I have a set time of the day when I work on them and it is usually the time which I am doing this right now, and that is about 4:50 a.m.  I get up each morning any where from 2:30 to 4:30 during the Summer months, and when School begins I will be getting up about the same time.  Only when School begins Thursday morning I will set the alarm the night before.  I have not been doing that during the Summer vacation time.

During the School months I drive a School bus.  My route is a little over 100 miles per day, and I haul approximately 55 kids from Kindergarten age through 12th grade.  Some of the roads I drive have steep hills and sharp winding curves with narrow roads and no shoulders for any mistake.  One of the things they say about driving a School bus is that the driver is a person with all their troubles behind them :>).

The thing about getting up as early as I do is a blessing to me.  I see the sunrise every morning, and see it set every evening.  Sunrises are wonderful.  When you see the sun rising over the horizon of the farthest hill to the East, and often morning clouds with it forms one of the rarest beauties you can ever see.  I marvel in our Lord’s Creation.

With these early mornings that means I can spend the day studying the Word, preparing sermons for Sunday morning and evening, and Bible Studies for Wednesday evening.  It also gives me time for visiting the people when I can.  There are times I may post an article on a blog during the day, but I try not make a habit of it, and then, only if my work is nearly done, and I just need some time to take my  mind off that subject or something.

I hope this has not seemed like a rambling mad man’s writing.  I will post the Matthew article I usually post on Wednesday; on Thursday – God willing.

Have a great and wonderful day in the Lord.
