The question, the title of this article is still one that is often asked; even in this modern, or post-modern society. Does it really matter who Jesus is? Some think so, and that includes myself.
There is plenty of historical evidence that a man named Jesus lived during the time of the one named in the New Testament. Was he just a man who was different from all men, and inspired great hope in others; or was He something more?
Many of the world religions believe Jesus lived, but to Mohammed he was only a prophet. The god [Allah] of Mohammed has no son. The followers of Mohammed need no one to die in their place. To many other religions of the world they seem to all place Jesus in the realm of a “great teacher” or a “great prophet”, but Son of God, or God incarnate? NO!
The question has even came up in talk shows concerning the matter of Jesus. There are well known people, celebrities who tell things such as “We can all become our own savior, our own god, by becoming a christ spirit, or allowing the christ spirit to inhabit us”. In my mind it is a mixture of demonism, and self worship; which when it really comes down to the truth is demon worship.
Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do men say that I am?” The following is the full question and the session where Jesus asked the question:
“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.” Matthew 16:13-20 (KJV)
You will notice that when Jesus had asked the question there were various answers. “Some say you are John the Baptist; some that you are Elijah; others say you are Jeremiah or one of the other prophets” . It seems that people may have believed in some form of reincarnation or something.
Let’s think about that question for a moment. “Who do men say that I [Jesus] am?” To some he is a good teacher, or a good prophet, or a good example to follow. Does that really answer who Jesus is? I really don’t think so.
Jesus’s question includes the term “Son of man”. For Jesus and His work this was a term of respect, and only used of on other man in history, and that was the prophet Ezekiel. For Ezekiel it meant that he was a prophet of the Deity. For Jesus it means much more.
As we look further into this dialogue Jesus asked the great question which all people need to answer. “Who do you say that I am?” Who is Jesus to you? Your answer to this question will determine your destiny for eternity. There is only one answer which God blesses.
Peter, the hasty one, answered very quickly, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” “Christ” is the annointed one. This would mean the Messiah of Israel the Annointed One of God. The Messiah is the Son of God and the Son of man. God became flesh and dwelt among us. He is Immanuel meaning “God with us”. Where did Peters answer; his confession come from? How did he know this answer? Listen to the words of Jesus.
“Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. “
Jesus blesses Peter for his answer telling him that this did not come from his own mind or flesh, but by revelation from God. His [Peter’s] answer was more than just an intellectual knowledge, it was heavenly knowledge given him by God the Father. No one can, in or of themselves, just decide one day that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God. It comes by revelation from God. When it comes by revelation from God, that is when that becomes a strong conviction one will die for, and it is one worth living for to die for. Peter would later give his life for the cause of Jesus Christ.
The blessing the Lord gave to Peter was more than just words. The confession of Peter becomes the bedrock, the foundation upon which the Church [the Body of Christ] is built. No one comes into Christ apart from this confession. No one comes without the faith announcement, heart conviction, life changing event, of acknowledging that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Jesus was not saying that Peter was the rock upon which the Church is built. The Rock is Christ, and our confession that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Jesus tells Peter that He gives to him the “Keys to the kingdom”. Keys represent authority. With keys we can shut up a building to prevent entry by unauthorized personel. With keys we secure a car, a truck, a building. That is what gives us power over what we own, or are given from an approved authority.
The following is from The MacArthur Study Bible on the matter of the “Keys of the kingdom of heaven” –
“16:19 the keys of the kingdom of heaven. These represent authority, and here Christ gives Peter (and by extension all other believers) authority to declare what was bound or loosed in heaven. This echoed the promise of John 20:23, where Christ gave the disciples authority to forgive or retain the sins of people. All this must be understood in the context of 18:15-17, where Christ laid out specific, instructions for dealing with sin in the church.”
The MacArthur Study Bible, NKJV, p. 1423
This includes the power that we have in prayer, the leadership in our churches, and our power with God in heaven.
The question remains, “Who is Jesus?” It does not really matter who others say He is; when it gets down to where the rubber hits the road; then what really matters is who Jesus is to you.
If you do not see Him as the Christ, the Son of the living God, then you are not in a right relationship with God, you are lost, condemned, yet in your sins. Jesus said to Philip, “If you have seen me you have seen the Father” (John 14:9-11).
God, and Father, open the eyes of all who may read this that they may see the truth of who Jesus is, and save them for YOUR own glory. Amen.

I will probably see you on judgment day, but I will be standing with the One who is doing the judging. His name is Jesus the Christ, Son of the Living God; “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son…” John 5:22 (KJV)
My judgment of sin has already been dealt with (2 Corinthians 5:21).

You need not offer your sacrifice for me. It is an unworthy sacrifice, as would my life be for you. Jesus’s sacrifice is sufficient for all. He died for all, that all who will call on His name might have eternal life.
Jesus’s sacrifice of His life on the cross was the only sacrifice which makes it possible for those who have called on His name to call God “Father”.
The only Jesus which is the true Jesus is the Son of YaHWeH, and as you have already said Allah has no son. The only Jesus which is the true Jesus died on the cross for our sins, was buried and three days later rose again bodily (phisically) from that grave. The Jesus you believe in never died on the cross, but swooned death, and there was no resurrection. We speak of two different men.
Jesus the Christ is the living Son of God, who ever lives, and intercedes for those who know Him.

Back to the Argument of that verse above which you used as your proof, I like people giving so called proof so it can be examined.
I do things like an investigator at times because it is needed with deep understanding, what you are doing in the above topic is called Tafseer in Arabic which means you give commentary which is an attemt at expaining a verse better so let me take that vese in the main topic above which is posted here:
Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Now my Tafseer/ Commentary but before I do the commentary I would like to tell you I see nothing wrong with this verse I clearly understand it.
Tafseer I only need to make clear one point of this verse “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Yes Jesus the son of Mary aka son of Man is the Christ, I accept it and believe he is the Messiah the prophet, servant a messenger of Allah. Now lets go to the section son of “god” and investigate son and sons of the Father as mentioned so many times in the Blessed Holy Bible of Allah everyone including you me all of mankind gets this title son or sons of the Father.
son and sons of the Father is not understood by you son and sons of the Father means “servants, worshipers, slaves of the Father, even the word Father is not understood by you Father is a term of respect used for the Almighty during that time, keeping in mind we are not in that time now these words used were used in Armiac and Hebrew fitting to the mindset of people during that time as terms of respect this was their way of showing the closeness of the Almighty but not in being.
My first ever comment here is enough proof, Islaam is the only true religion I testify that there is none worthy of Worship but Allah and I testify that Mohammed is His final Messenger, I personally will offer myself in your place on the Day of Judgement if I am telling a lie, I swear right here right now before you and before the Almighty, before any person who comes accross our debate of now that I will offer myself in the place of all mankind if I lied about what I have just said. I would openly offer myself to be burried into the depth of Hell fire I swear in truth that Islaam is the only true religion and again I Testify that there is none worthy of Worship but Allah and I testify that Mohammed is His final Messenger come to Islaam Wallahi I promise you in all that I am you will enter Heaven through Allah’s Mercy if you accept Islaam.
If not then we go the rout as Allah mentions in the Holy Quran Surah 109 Al-Kafirun

Yes I know that YHWH is unpronounced, but it has been translated to be YaHWeH or Jehovah.
You seem to be saying that Allah and Jehovah are the same, but that cannot be. Jehovah has a Son; His name is Jesus the Christ. By Islam’s own admission Allah has no son. Jehovah is offended by the sins of mankind; evidently Allah is not since no Muslim admits to being a sinner in need of a Savior.
The Bible says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) therefore all need a redeemer.
The Old Testament Law of which you refer shows mankind is needy of a Savior. Each sacrifical lamb offered was a picture of the Lamb of God that came to take away our sin (John 1:29). The Revelation of Jesus tells us, “…the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy”
When one is born again through faith in the perfect, sinless, Son of God these laws of the Old Testament are written in the heart. We no longer desire a sinful lifestyle, a lifestyle of killing, lust of the flesh, destroying the lives of others, and our lives are filled with peace knowing that we have an eternity in the presence of the Lamb of God; the sacrifice for our sin.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.
I do not need to earn it. I received it as a free gift. It is free to all who will call on the name of Jesus.

Also to correct you there is written YHVH not YHWH this is the same as ALM, HMN, etc… etc… as found in the Holy Quran.
YHVH is not a word ask an Israelite who can speak old Hebrew to tell you about it, it is something that can not be pronounced.

The Almighty Allah in Aramaic “the language which the Israelites and Jesus the Son of Mary Spoke” also known as Allah in the brother language Arabic, spelt Eloah in Hebrew pronounced Allah by Moses (PBUH) well let us see.
You say Jesus the son of Mary is a “god” lets look at how an Atheist would react: first question comes to mind and this “god” died who raised him? 2 so he died you say ok well cant be Almighty, additionally the Almighty is Incomparably Great and Jesus is not because he is comparable to us mankind he has a penus, he is a man, he is the Messiah “Messenger” A Prophet of the Almighty because he was sent my ref the Bible “quote” Jesus the son of Mary said “I have not come for my own will but for the will of Him who sent me” meaning “Messenger”.
Ok so still you say Jesus died for your sins let us put it to the test with the Word of the Almighty.
Did Moses (PBUH) not come with commandments from the Lord Eloah “Allah” the Bible has laws in it you know, in Islaam it is called “Shariah” ok so I kill a man for nothing today can I say tomorrow Jesus died for that sin, then Rape a woman and Say Jesus died for that sin? This is evidence that you make your own laws you replace the laws of Allah with a lie “Jesus died for sins” now what happens to the Bible and the commandments?
Where in the Bible is Judaism and Christianity mentioned, who said your religion is called one of these two?
Lets look at Islaam which means “Total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah” now lets look at the Holy Books which I am defending “Torah, Bible and Al-Quran” over and over the same message submission to the will of Allah, see the quote as mentioned above Jesus said it too, now who must I listen to you or what Isa ibn Maryam “Jesus” PBUH follow you or the Bible?
Get your facts straight you lost big time.
Don’t you pray “Let Thy Kingdom come”, Kingdom of Islaam has come “Thy will be done” clearly Islaam is the biggest and fastest growing religion in the world “On earth as in Heaven” Just said it well heaven is getting bigger for us “Give us this day our Daily bread” Allah gave Islaam as our Spiritual Sustenance, we pray 5 times a day at fixed periods… “For Thine is the Kingdom” Yes I know where we going to Allah is our return “Forever and ever” Ameen and Ameen again to that.
Face it I’m telling the truth!
Let me do it how Jesus the son of Mary does it “for it is written”
Enough proof and the Bible too tell us so!
It is your right to be a Muslim, it is your right to come into the fold of Islaam and find the true reality of things.
May Allah guide you Inshallah Ameen.

Let’s get something clear. I do not follow the word of Allah. I follow the word of Jehovah [YHWH]. The Bible declares Jesus from Genesis through the Revelation. He is seen in Genesis 1 creating along with God [Elohim]. He is the one speaking with Abraham (Genesis 18). He is with Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah in the fiery furnace (Daniel 3).
Jesus the Christ is not only the son of Mary, but the Son of God [YHWH].
John says, “The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us”, and that Word is Jesus. Jesus the Son of God became our sin, on the cross, suffered and died that we might be saved and live with Him forever. Apart from Jesus Christ there is no salvation.
Lord Jesus, Jehovah, Creator, show yourself unto this new friend, and open his eyes to the truth of who the real Jesus is. You died for our sins, was buried carrying our sin, its guilt and shame, and its curse away; and you arose bodily from the grave and ever live and you are seated at the Father’s right hand.
Thank YOU for dying, and thank YOU for living for us. Amen.

PS: next time you look at a Jesus picture remember my face and try to see a difference.
Muslims also believe Isa ibn Maryam aka Jesus or Esao as known in Hebrew, we also believe he will return and when he does you wont recognise him, you’ll say get away you Arab because he prays like us, talks like us, eats like us, is one of us, he is a Muslim.
The proof:
Moses and Jesus (PBUT) are Muslims

How Jesus and other Biblical Prophets PRAYED
http://thetruereligion.wordpress.com/2008/12/09/how-jesus-and-other-biblical-prophets-prayed/
Now show us how you deny the Scripture “as always”
You claim to follow the Word of Allah but you don’t.
May Allah guide you.

Oh wow so you challenge Scripture and at the same time speak out against the Christ Jesus the son of Mary.
Come I give you a history lesson Jesus the son of Mary’s biggest problem was to prove to the Israelites that he is the Messiah (a Prophet, Messenger) of Allah he never said he is the Almighty nor does he ever say worship me nor does he speak of a trinity nor is it mentioned in the Blessed Holy Bible.
You quote verses from the Holy Book to try and justify your claims.
Come I open up another can of worms one man quoted just like you people always do (In the beginning there was the word and the word was with “god” and the word is “god”)based on this the man said the word is Jesus (PBUH) but so openly he mistakes the “Word” = “Message” with the Messenger now lets translate it over to our language of today ok, if you speak any of our old Hebrew, Armiac or Arabic you will understand this clearly well here’s the translation :(In the Beginning there was the Word “Message” and the Word “Message” was with The Almighty Allah and the Word “Message” is about Allah)

To the author of the previous comment I do want to apologize for the late posting. I discovered it in my spam queue.
Jesus the Living Word of God said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). There are times when Jesus was worshipped and never reproved the worshippers; for instance Thomas (John 20:28)following the resurrection, but then, you probably don’t believe He was resurrected.
Jesus is the fulness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9).
Revelation 1:8 declares Jesus to be the Almighty. Revelation 21:5-7 declare Alpha and Omega to be Jehovah God; along with Revelation 22:13; Revelation 1:17-18 confirm Him to be the One worthy of worship.
Thanks for your comment, you are correct in the thought of following “the Word of the Lord in the Bible”

How can I answer you? Let me see ok here:
Trinity VS the Holy Bible
Firstly we can establish the facts and the ultimate truth with wisdom and knowledge before we even have a look into the Holy Scriptures. We don’t have to look far…
“The Almighty, who is He?”
Everyone knows that the Lord Almighty is the Sole Owner of All High Attributes, Names/ Titles: Meaning none of His creation can take title or call themselves for e.g. “The Creator”, or “The Most High” etc…
You will agree if I say He the Almighty is The Most Holy, you will agree if I say He is The Most High, you will agree if I say He is The Incomparably Great.
The Almighty is Incomparably Great “Can not be compared to any of His creation.” For e.g. He can not be compared to a statue, a dog, a tree, having sex (being male or female) being a father or mother, having sons or daughters etc…
This clearly indicates that there’s no two in one or three in one “There is Just One! And He is Incomparably Great”
Now let us look at the Trinity claims and what the Bible says:
http://thetruereligion.wordpress.com/2008/11/28/islaam-in-the-bible-the-true-teachings-of-jesus-pbuh/
After reading through this it makes me wonder who will deny it and speak against the Bible…
At the end it’s about choice follow the word of man or follow the Word of the Lord in the Bible.
