In the LORD put I my trust: how say you to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Psalm 11:1-3 (KJV)
The wicked of the world are always out to destroy those whom they perceive as “Weak”, maybe even perceived as being “Naive” or “Simple minded”. Jesus speaking of Satan said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” (John 10:10). They have every weapon at their disposal.
The enemy/thief is the devil, Satan, the old serpent; and he works in through lust, greed, hunger, power, hate, and godless love to attack God, mercy, grace, godly love, and the meek.
The foundations are a necessity for the strength, life, endurance of any building. If the foundations are not strong the house will not stand for long, thus the Psalmist states, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” The foundation of our faith is God and His Son Jesus. We must also rest on His word as the means of knowing Him, not building our knowledge and love for Him from the feeble teaching which comes from a “Feel good” theology, mythology, or from the hills near which you live. Traditions can be good, at times, but when it comes to faith, faithful living, and doctrine; good solid faith comes from the Scriptures which are the word of God and our foundation for faith.
The foundation of God stands sure, true, and bold (2 Timothy 2:19), and the call is that the Lord knows those who are His. Every one of us are to depart from iniquity. Not see how close we can get to it.
Stand on the foundation of Christ Jesus. He is the Rock that followed Israel through the wilderness (1 Corinthians 10:4).
