Who is Jesus Christ?

“For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 1:7-9 (KJV)

It does matter how we see Jesus.  If you see Jesus as a good teacher, a prophet, or a good man, and deny His teachings – such as – “My Father and I are One” (John 10:30). Then how do you believe He was a good teacher, a prophet, or a good man?  If He lied about the things He teaches of Himself, then He was a liar.  “Let God be true, and every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).  If Jesus is the Son of God as He said then He is Divine and is Incarnate God.

There is one thing that identifies the fellowship of Christ from other so called fellowships.  The love that has Jesus Christ as its basis, its standard, and foundation.

Some teachers and teachings declare that Jesus was only a spirit being – similar to the angels that appear as men.  If that was true then there was no actual body that died on the cross, and no resurrection.  The Scriptures say, “… He took not on Him the nature of angels: but He took on Him the seed of Abraham” (Hebrews 2:16).  He became flesh.  To deny Jesus became flesh [God Incarnate] is to deny the truth.

Those who teach a different Jesus are deceivers, even antichrists.  Paul writes, “…Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8).  The fact must be stressed over and over again that false teaching is harmful and deadly to the individual Christian, and to the whole body of Christ [the Church] if it is allowed in our churches and lives.

There are many religions that profess to be “Christian”.  If they deny that Jesus Christ is God in flesh they are a deceiver and liars.  If they declare His deity, yet claim that it is something all mankind can attain as well (that is deity, and that we can all become gods), then that robs the glory that belongs only to Jesus, and that is reserved solely for Him; and those who teach such are “antichrist” deceivers.

“The doctrine of Christ” (v. 9) is the pure Bible doctrine [teaching] that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, God become flesh (John 1:1, 14), and God the Son.  Anyone or any group denying this doctrine, or equating Godhood to any other is a liar and antichrist.  He or they are not of God.  They are not to be accepted in the fellowship of Christ or His Church.

In the following verses of 2 John 1:10-11 the apostle John warns followers of Jesus Christ not even to allow the teachers of the antichrist doctrine into their homes; neither to tell them “Goodbye”.  To tell them “Goodbye” is to tell them “Godspeed” or “God bless you”.

It really does make a difference what you believe about Jesus Christ the Son of God, God the Son.

  1. Where do you get it from that the doctrine of Christ you present would be the pure Bible doctrine whilst it goes in against [teaching] that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, the sent one from God, the mediator between God and man, the high priest for God, etc., and most important him to be the son of man and son of God which you twist around to be”God the Son” where it is nowhere written as such in the Bible?

    • You are correct in saying that the term “God the Son” is not used in the Bible; however, the principle is definitely seen when you take the whole of the Bible into consideration. His own statement, “Before Abraham was, I am” (John 8:58) He said that after being asked if He had seen Abraham. Then, with that answer they took up stones to stone Him to death, because in saying that He declared Himself to be God.
In the Old Testament are many references to the deity of the One who would come. The Psalmist in Psalm 110 says, “The LORD [YHWH) said unto my Lord, sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”
The LORD [YHWH] says in Isaiah 44:6, and 48:12 “I am the First, and I am the Last…” Jesus, Himself speaking in the Revelation calls Himself the First and the Last, I am Alpha, and I am Omega” (Revelation 1:11, 17; 2:8; 22:13). So I am not twisting Scripture to say He is the Son of God, God the Son. It is to me quite obvious He is none but the Son of God, and God the Son.
Part of the reason He was crucified is that His accusers found Him guilty of blasphemy, which if He was not God incarnate, then, He was guilty of blasphemy. Then nothing He says would be worth hearing.
By grace are we saved through faith. Lord, open this one’s eyes to see You for who you are, and save their eternal life and soul.

  2. Today the world is still full of deceivers who do not accept Jesus is a man of flesh and blood and not a spirit.
You say “If Jesus is the Son of God as He said then He is Divine and is Incarnate God.” so you think you as a son of god – having to be one in Christ as Chirst is one with God- you think you are god incarnate?

the same as Jesus is not god incarnate you nor I are a god nor God incarnate. concerning Jesus God made it clear he is the son of God and not God ahving come to earth.

    • You make a great statement about Jesus being flesh and blood. He was, and He is still flesh and bone (Luke 24:36-40), because after He was crucified, and buried, He rose bodily from the grave; and He forever lives with the Father in Heaven.
No! I am not divine. Yes! You are correct in many deceivers. Jesus is, however, the very only begotten Son of God because He was born of a virgin in a manger in Bethlehem. Jesus existed as the Word of God in creation. “All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” John 1:3 (Also see Colossians 1:16-17).
I am a son of God only through adoption, but will one day have full privileges of the divine Son because of His sacrifice for me (Ephesians 1). All followers of Jesus Christ are blessed in this.
      Read Isaiah 7:14; 9:6.
If you will not believe; then, nothing I write or say will convince you. I do pray that the Spirit of God will indeed open your eyes to the truth of who Jesus is.

      • I want to believe … and I believe what God Himself said, believing He does not tell lies. He Himself said that Jesus is His only begotten beloved son. Nowhere does or did He ever say that He was or is this son of man who gave his body, by putting his own will aside and doing the Will of god. In case Jesus is God he would always have done the Will of God, being his will also to be the Will of God and as such never putting his own will aside (contrary to what the Scriptures tell us).

        • You sound to me as one of those who do not believe even though Jesus proved everything He said by rising from the dead. Jesus rebuked the religious leaders for not knowing the Scriptures; and it seems to be true with you.
I generally do not respond to no name comments, but with this I will make and exception. Everything about Scripture – the Bible – is concerning the work of God, and the revelation of His Son Jesus Christ from Genesis through the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
I pray God will open your eyes that you might see Him ie. Jesus Christ for who He really is. I know that I cannot convince you. Open their eyes Lord that they might see, and their ears that they might hear, and break their hardened heart that they might open up to receive You.

  3. I don’t know him personally but then, I’m sure you think you do. I also know that Christians have concocted a fake Jesus over the centuries whom doesn’t exist. The real Jesus was just a man like you and me.

    • I know that I know Jesus, the true Jesus, who was crucified for our sins, was buried, and rose again. He died for me, and He lives forever more. I know He is alive because God’s word tells me and my Spirit bears witness with God’s Spirit that I am His. I know that I will live forever with Him.
You can have that too, by coming to the realization of the fact that there is a God in heaven who created all things, that He loves you so much He sent His Son to die for you, in His burial He carried all our sin, our shame, guilt and condemnation away, then He rose victorious over sin, hell, death, and the grave. He is returning again.
Reed, I believe you came here to this site in search of the truth of God. I pray you will call on His name, and receive Jesus Christ the Son of God, God the Son as your Lord and Savior.

  4. “God and I are one.” If you don’t understand what that actually means, like the writers of the Bible book didn’t, it’s easy to perpetuate false testimony that can linger for centuries. What is written can be seen as True but from what interpretation do you stand behind? If John wrote it, he’s mistaken if his understanding is that Jesus is God somehow. What Jesus was saying is that he has reached a level of Truthfulness/correction, where he received a gift known as Divine Love from God which is an actual substance, a piece of God, that no man on Earth has ever managed to the capacity that Jesus received. At that level, it has been coined atonement with God or achieving Heaven or the Kingdom. That’s what it means. It doesn’t mean Jesus is God or that Jesus is the son of God. All that is a bunch of BS that has done nothing but steer people in a not so accurate direction of Truth. But it has enlightened the world to the idea that God exists, hasn’t it. Very clever on God’s behalf, I think.
